Flora Macdonald
Academy (FMA) students will get extra help getting running several online businesses, thanks to
the new project called FMA Digital Entrepreneurs.
The FMA Digital Entrepreneurs, created by Mark Mason, Technology Coordinator at FMA,
will provide students the training, support and the financial resources they need to operate several online businesses.
Based in the Flora
Macdonald Academy computer lab, the facilities include a suite of eighteen computers with high-speed Internet access.
Profits will be used to purchase new equipment for the lab.
Throughout the year,
students will receive training that help them learn about the world of business and pick up some of the skills they will need
to become successful online entrepreneurs, such as permission marketing, website promotion, building an online store, and
flash presentations.
We hope that in the years
to come, we will be able to look back on a string of local companies that have started out as students’ ideas, had support
from the FMA Digital Entrepreneurs and then gone on to establish themselves
as successful enterprises.
